RE: 600 mod/ 800 stock rule

Two things in life are absolute... 1. Women will never understand what it feels like to get kicked in the testicles. 2. Men will never understand the pain of child birth. I do agree with Jon, we can move on. I think the EWA needs to pleed it's case with Grantsburg Hockey. Nothing on here will change anything. mailto:info@grantsburgwatercross.com

RE: 600 mod/ 800 stock rule

Jon, One other point as you are on the board, the hood rule has been in place for a while now... I believe it has been in place since we started 4 years ago, but if you recall you changed it this year to 600cc.

RE: 600 mod/ 800 stock rule

Good... I really feel if we are going to stay in this we need to go with an IQ chassis. And your stocker was no faster then what Ole is riding now.

RE: 600 mod/ 800 stock rule

Easy Jon... just a question. But it does affect what I can pay for your sleds. If Ole is going Pro this year and if I am building a mod he can only run one year of Pro stock and semi pro open and then he will have to go pro open next year (2010). So I will need to build an IQ mod as Dennis has done. Plus replace his stocker in 2 years. To be honest with you I would rather he run Semi Pro and stay out of all this******politics.

RE: 600 mod/ 800 stock rule

Another example and no different would be Dennis's Edge powered IQ.

RE: 600 mod/ 800 stock rule

Epping NY had 20,000 spectators... Is this real numbers? One thing I don't understand about the rule is, 6 year old plastic is taboo but Ski Doo powered Polaris Chassis's in Pro Open are ok... Why doesn't it include the crank case?

RE: 600 mod/ 800 stock rule

So all Polaris Edge chassis with be gone after 2010 Season. 2007 No 600's came in Edge plastic. Apparently IWA is going to all Ski Doo's as no one last year ran an IQ or Fusion chassis in the stock class.

Scott, Nate Winberg won the Semi Pro stock class with that very sled this year. (same sled rules, only drivers are different) Steve

Congrads Aaron!! Are you still running the Ken Kolitsch Wausau Motor?

RE: 600 mod/ 800 stock rule

Leave the Semi Pro class alone... there were 26 entry's in Grantsburg. What happen to the guy who said a mod 600 will never produce what HP an 800 stocker will produce. Run a stock 04 rev and narrow it up. If the class doesn't work all you need to do is widen your sled back out.

RE: 600 mod/ 800 stock rule

I thought Pro Drivers are supposed to stay out of the Stock Drag classes anyway. If you run a mod chassis you will run mod drags. Tech will be NO different. All chassis need to comply to the mod chassis rules. 600's will be checked for cc only, all 601cc motors and larger will need to be stock and be eligible for tear down, same as now. NO MORE RULES... IWA has this covered completely with rules they have now. Class change will allow mod chassis in Pro Stock class and 600 cc motors or smaller can be cranked up to no end. 600cc mod East coast sleds will be allowed to run in Grantsburg. Keep it simple... this is a test class.

RE: 600 mod/ 800 stock rule

Mike, Remember that you were running Semi Pro Open and Pro Stock (they run back to back), if you run both Pro classes you get a break between classes. It kind of broke the boredom for us in Grantsburg. Why more rules? Mod chassis rule is in place. Let's keep it simple. Steve

RE: 600 mod/ 800 stock rule

In the pro Mod Class I believe the Champion is Brian McCurdy Jr. on a Yamaha and last year it was Dennis Ryner on a Polaris. Howies Mod sat on the line in the Mod drags final in Grantsburg and it never finished a heat in Frederic oval class.

RE: IWA at Haydays

We looked all over for you. Where were you? We even checked the info booth and they never heard of IWA.

RE: 600 mod/ 800 stock rule

Mark, Your experience and knowledge in this sport are without a doubt second to none. I believe there are 2 points you are missing. 1. This one you can not see... You could take any brand of stock sled in your garage and when you bring it to the pond and put Chad on it, it will be competitive and it will stay dry. (We were teasing Chad in Wausau it was the mechanic not the driver) 2. This one you do not want to see... At this point in time, Ski Doo will dominate this class to the point no one else wants to run in it. Only 13 entries at the World Championships and 26 in Semi Pro. Yesterday I talked to a pretty good Ski Doo Mod builder, Jason Houle... He all but laughed at the comment that any 600 mod could beat a stock 800 Rev. And at this point in time, you also have the best Pro Stock Driver in the world in Chad Maki. So for a trial period we would like to follow Chad around the pond with 600 Mods rather than 800 stockers. This is something a lot of people want to try and they would love to have your support. Steve

RE: 600 mod/ 800 stock rule

Bobby, (I believe) the reason SLP can not sell you the pipes is because you have to go to a Polaris dealer. I can not see why people are against this rule change. Everyone I have talked to said they would not agree with a change if it takes out any current equipment. It you want to narrow up your stocker fine. If Derek bring's in a 600 Mod great. If Chad want's to run his Rev just like he had it setup this year fine. I honestly hope he does to see if the compitition can compete or if the IWA has to go a different direction. Staying relatively current is fine... Remember you have to watch the money and still bring in new drivers to the class. As far as the EWA goes, maybe come up with an EWA rule for Grantsburg. I don't see any reason to lock them out of the World Championships... (see how many come over the trial period) I really think this has to happen for two reason's. But I do agree with those who feel this should be a trial in the Pro class only. 1. More of the new sleds are going to be EFI, so this will give everyone a chance to see what mod 600's will do against stock 800 Rev's. If Ski Doo keeps dominating this class it will die as I feel it is already. 2. I think sno X racers are looking for something to do with the sleds they have. This will give you more drivers.

I agree with Ken. Hay days is this weekend and if we only knew... Hey Mike, maybe the board should have a special meeting.
